Drifting in the Dark

 

So this is one of my favorite pieces that combined science and art! I have a a collection of lightbulbs and among my favorite are blacklight lightbulbs. This type of lightbulb is typically used in fish tanks and by forensics looking for body fluids at crime scenes. In any case, they are pretty nifty. So I googled the chemicals need to make invisible ink and it turns out that the majority of the ingredients are found in Liquid Tide (the blue kind). So I wanted the ballerinas to dance thus I painted them with blue skin to blend in the liquid blue detergent. Each ballerina has a different pose under the blacklight.
